Caribbean-Americans Band Together to Celebrate Culture, Democracy and Barack Obama!

 

Brooklyn, NY – July 22, 2008 – On August 31, 2008, Caribbean Promoters United (CPU) will present "Wine for Your Life," a large-scale fundraiser concert at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York. The event will feature not only seasoned and renowned artists from the Caribbean but also major U.S. artists. The event will serve to raise awareness on the power of the vote, as well as a substantive contribution to Sen. Barack Obama's election campaign.

BUDWEISER FORGES PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE FOUNDATION
 Washington, DC – The National Alliance Foundation, a non-profit network committed to promoting peace and harmony while raising funds and awareness for cancer, announced today plans for the First Annual Budweiser Reggae Summer Fest for Cancer Research reggae show. The inaugural concert will bring top-flight reggae and entertainment to RFK Stadium, home of Major League Soccer’s D.C. United team.

    GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands (GIS): As Tropical Storm Gustav inches closer to the Cayman Islands, the subcommittees of Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) report that they have their plans in place to support the Islands during, and after, the storm.
  • Strengthening Tropical Storm Gustav changes track
    MIAMI, USA(Reuters): A strengthening Tropical Storm Gustav jogged to the south on Thursday and was likely to graze southern Jamaica and the western tip of Cuba before nearing the oil fields of the Gulf of Mexico as a powerful hurricane. At 7:30 a.m. EDT, Gustav was 80 miles east of Kingston, Jamaica.

    KINGSTON, Jamaica: Jamaica’s 22,000 public school teachers are hopping mad about the delay in salary increases and fringe benefits and are calling on Prime Minister Bruce Golding to intervene.
